Many people walk down the street and don’t see anything; they pass others and don’t notice them. We live chaotically, we do a lot, and we do nothing. Today we exist more as virtual entities than as biological beings, we interact dynamically on online networks, but in real life, only two words change. So the big question remains: how to avoid sin?
Adults who measure their value in likes and dislikes want to know how to avoid sin. Who speaks in quotes but forgets to look deep into their souls? Televisions promote everything that is salable, dramatic, and tearful.
Ephesians 5:3-7
But among you, there must not be even a hint of sexual immorality, impurity, or greed because these are improper for God’s holy people. Nor should there be obscenity, foolish talk, or coarse joking, which are out of place but rather thanksgiving. For this, you can be sure:
No immoral, impure, or greedy person—such a person is an idolater—has any inheritance in the kingdom of Christ and God. Let no one deceive you with empty words, for because of such things, God’s wrath comes to disobedient people. Therefore do not be partners with them.”
The truth is we robotize ourselves every single day.
What does it mean to be clean?
Clean means to be white as snow, washed from your old being. In 1 Timothy 4:12, we find that we should “let no man despise our youth; but be an example to the faithful: in speech, in conduct, in love, in faith, in purity.” A clean young person in such a dirty world… can it be so impossible? Unfortunately, we can no longer find many examples of immaculate people today…
But in the first Psalm, we find words that describe how a godly man should act, saying that blessed is the man that walked not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor stands in the way of sinners, nor sits in the seat of the scornful. But he delighted in the law of the LORD and meditated on his law day and night. He is like a tree planted by the rivers of water that brings forth its fruit in its season, whose leaf also shall not wither: all that begin shall prosper.
Be holy, just like Him.
Try to act like Jesus Christ. A young man who truly practices the Word of the Lord in his life will never enter into improper entourage will never listen to the counsel of the wicked, and will never walk in the same way as those who curse the Name of our God.
Such a young man always finds pleasure in the law of the Lord, and in his life, he will see the fruits of the fulfillment of the Word. The young man who knows God will have daily fellowship with Him, and when he begins a new life with Jesus, he will live it to the end of his days by experiencing His goodness.
Jesus said, “Be holy because I am holy.”
Analyze the possibilities of temptations
Please analyze what you will do and who you will spend your time with. “On what occasions of falling into a sin would you meet?” When and where? “On what good occasions would you meet?” When and where? You may have some tempting, despicable glory, pride, anger, and others?”
Having examined everything this way, immediately think of how you could quickly and safely spend the whole day without sin and how to behave with the others around you.
If you see that you will have to spend your time and work on something with a person who is quick to anger, think in advance of how to behave in their presence with such gentleness and politeness that you do not in any way provoke the person’s wrath, but stay in peace.
Why should we keep ourselves clean in a dirty society, and how to avoid sin?
We should keep ourselves clean in this world to be rewarded by Jesus Christ in the afterlife.
In Ecclesiastes 11: 9-10, we find the bible verse that affirms that people have two ways in front of their eyes, they should choose whatever they feel like, but one day God Almighty will call them at the Judgement Day.
“Rejoice, young man, in your youth, be glad in your child, walk in the ways of your heart, and rejoice in your eyes; but know that God will call you to judgment for all this. Cast out all trouble from your heart, and put evil away from your body; youth and the dawn of life are fleeting. “
One day, we will be accountable to the Lord for everything we do and say. The Lord does not come to take our hand and carry us in the light, and he leaves us free to rejoice in the ways we go in our youth, but by knowing His Word and Him personally, we will give free rein to everything we do.
If we have decided to go with the Lord on the narrow path, we must be mindful of this path because, on it, we will never find pleasures and vanities; it is a path full of thorns and obstacles. It is a difficult path, and few are those who walk on me, but once I set out on this path, there is no way back.
This is the way that leads upwards, and when suffering and disappointment overwhelm our hearts, let us think of one thing: at the end of our journey, God is waiting for us with open arms to wipe the tears from our eyes.
We are the world’s light, and a town built on a hill cannot be hidden.
How shall the young man keep his way clean?
We find the answer to the question above in PSALM 119: 9 “How shall the young man keep his way clean and avoid sin? -Following Your Word.” As long as we follow only His Word, we will be able to be immaculate young people in a messy, dirty world.
All the answers are found in His Holy Word; in 2 TIMOTHY 2:22, we are taught to flee from the lusts of youth and pursue righteousness, faith, love, and peace with them that call on the Lord out of a pure heart.
“RUN,” says the Bible, do not stand still to be tempted by temptations and lusts. When we are in danger, what is the first thing we do? Runaway! If a dog wants to bite us, what will we do? Are we standing still? No, we are going to run away.
Questions to reflect on your relationship with God:
- How are you in your relationship with God?
- Do you talk every day to the One who created you?
- Are you talking to the Lord of your heart?
- Do you live your youth in words and deeds precisely as the Lord requires of us?
- Do you spend time in your life working for the Lord?
- What does the Lord say about you today?
- Do you find pleasure in the law of the Lord?
I hope you will reflect on the questions you found in this article and think about changing the situation to become people by God’s heart.
The poem below is written in the Romanian language, and it is pretty deep and contains touching words. It is called, Keep yourself clean in everything”.
, Keep your heart clean,
And the undefiled mind,
Always be spotless,
Keep your heart pure,
To truly love Him.
Keep your life clean,
Always living by the Word,
In God always hope,
All these on earth,
We will share with God,
Always keeping them clean,
We will inherit the Holy Heaven.”
To achieve inner peace and to run away from temptations, you should:
- Have faith and be persistent in loving and forgiving the ones you love.
- When you fail and give in to temptation, pray and ask for forgiveness.
- Pray before making a wrong decision and crying and regretting it later.
- Say a prayer or a bible verse from Philippians: I CAN DO ALL THINGS TO CHRIST WHO STRENGTHENS ME.
