The thought of eternity had been placed in the two Talachs by God, as it was and is set in every man; only in their case, eternity was knocking at the door and would be opened before their eyes in just a few moments. In other words, they were floating into the realm of eternity and standing in the hallway before the room of eternity. And realistically, their situation seemed hopeless. Jesus Christ was crucified on the cross with two butchers, Dismas and Gestas. Jesus and the thieves on the cross went with Jesus to Paradise. The two thieves were Dismas and Gestas, but we know this from writings that do not belong in the Bible because the Bible does not mention their names. The crowd was against him, and the soldiers laughed and mocked him.
Even Pilate had just washed his hands to rid himself of his guilt over Jesus. His criminal friend insulted Jesus. And the small group of disciples had left him and fled. Someone wrote that this robber didn’t have much biblical knowledge; even if he did, Jesus was not a pretty sight to look at. He was on the verge of death. He had given up everything He had believed up to that point in His life to trust Jesus as His Lord, Savior, and King.
Why was Jesus crucified with the thieves?
When Pilate renounces his right of pardon and hands Jesus over o the Jews, the Lord is left in the hands of His horsemen. The Sadducees, whom we meet again on Calvary, hurry the convoy on its way, for that evening was the Passover feast, and by then, the condemned man must have given up his soul. Along with Jesus, two butchers were to be crucified, probably charged long ago, whom Pilate, in contempt of the Jews, associated with the torture of the one who was considered their king.
Jesus was crucified with two thieves on the cross because they wanted to degrade his name and show that Jesus was also a rebel.
The condemned had to carry their crosses to the place of execution alone and were given to a Samnite, assisted by a small unit of Roman ostriches. The Jews take Him to His death, but the Romans oversee the execution of the punishment.

What happened to the two thieves on the cross with Jesus?
The Bible does not mention the names of the two men crucified with Jesus. The account that water and blood flowed out of the heart allows us to conclude that pleural and pericardial blood collection occurred, eventually leading to cardiac tamponade and intracoronary thrombosis through heart rupture. Jesus stood on the cross next to the two thieves. And one of the crucified malefactors was scorning him, saying: Art thou not the Christ? Save Thyself and us. And the other, answering, rebuked him, saying: Are you not afraid of God because you are in the same host?
The two thieves on the cross had a tragic end by crucifixion, but one ended up in the Kingdom of God because he repented, and the other ended up in Hell.
And one of the thieves said to Jesus: Remember me, O Lord, when thou come into thy kingdom. And Jesus told him: Truly I tell you, today you will be with me in heaven. But Jesus allowed himself to be crucified to enter Hell and to free all the innocent people who had entered there.

Why were Gestas and Dismas crucified?
The torture of Jesus Christ and his crucifixion are facts, or at least not as vehemently contested as others. This is because neither misery by whipping nor crucifixion were foreign acts to the Romans. Crucifixion is the act of publicly killing someone by exposing them for all to see, serving as a lesson to society. The condemned die slowly, suffering from thirst and the action of the elements. He was crucified with two other butchers¹, Gestas and Dismas.
Dismas and Gestas were crucified because they were butchers and thieves. And the Romans crucified all thieves by suffering. The Roman method did not seek the quick death of a man but torture by waiting.
This is why Jesus Christ, it is said in the gospels, was given vinegar to drink and not water.
The ritual was to have 13 lashes administered three times. But the whip was no ordinary, but one designed to tear as much flesh as possible and cause as much bleeding as possible. What did Jesus tell the thieves on the cross?
In our modern terms, we could say that the two thieves were on their deathbeds, and they could not have imagined a more painful death than the one they were going through. Let us not forget that eternity was in their hearts.
Jesus told the two thieves on the cross that one of them (the one who repented) would be with God and Jesus Christ in Paradise “today.”
The people were staring at Jesus, and the religious leaders were mocking Him as He hung naked on that cross between the two robbers. After casting lots for His clothes at the foot of His cross. In their case, eternity was knocking at the door and would be opened before their eyes in just a few moments. In other words, they were floating into the realm of eternity and standing in the hallway before the room of eternity. And realistically, their situation seemed hopeless.
